Immigration to Denmark
Denmark immigration is a great opportunity for professionals who wish to enhance their career prospects by working in the country. To encourage overseas skilled professionals, the country has introduced Greencard scheme through which one can migrate to Denmark for the purpose of work. Under Denmark Greencard scheme, one can get a residence permit for searching a job and subsequently working in Denmark.
Denmark Greencard scheme
Individuals who will be issued a residence permit under Denmark Greencard scheme need not require a work permit. People who qualify in Denmark Greencard scheme can undertake either paid or unpaid work. However, you are not permitted to work as a self-employed person. Danish government evaluates the criteria of Denmark Greencard applicants through points base system.
Who Qualifies for Denmark Greencard Dependant Visa?
In order to be eligible for Denmark Greencard dependent ,the Sponsor must satisfy certain conditions such as:

  • Must earn minimum DKK 50,000 in first year
  • Sufficient funds to meet your needs during their stay
  • Sponsor must hold an official address in Denmark
  • Health insurance coverage

Denmark has revamped the point's base system and now applicants will be able to score points under three points scoring factors such as academic qualifications, language criteria and adaptability nature. In order to get qualified under Denmark Green Card scheme, applicants must score 100 points under the aforesaid criteria.
Academic qualifications
To score points under this factor, candidates must possess a degree that is comparable to that of Denmark Bachelor's degree. Points will be allotted based on different criteria such as:

  • Bachelor's degree/Graduated from medium-length education
  • Bachelor's degree followed by one-year Master's degree
  • Master's degree
  • PhD

Applicants will be able to attain maximum 130 points under this factor. Bonus points will be allotted in case your qualification permits you to work in a field in which the country is facing shortage of skilled professionals. Additionally, bonus points will be also awarded if you have done your graduation from an authorized university, which is famous for its high academic level.
Language proficiency
In order to attain points under this factor, one must document that they passed a standard exam in English, Swedish, Danish, German or Norwegian language. Your language test must be taken in not more than two years prior to filing an application for Denmark Green Card scheme. In case of Danish, Swedish and Norwegian languages, specific criteria will be followed to award points and for English or German languages, points will be evaluated under different criteria. However, points will be awarded only for one Scandinavian language either English or German.
Nature of adaptability
Individuals with required qualifications or work experience that is related to EU/EEA or Switzerland will be allotted points as this feature helps you to adapt to the Danish labor market at a faster pace. Maximum 15 points will be awarded for either education or work experience.

The new extension scheme
Beginning 1 January 2015, a special transitional scheme is applicable for Candidates who were issued a residence permit before 1 January 2015. The new extension rules remains effective to candidates who file their application for extension following 1 January 2015.
Features of Denmark Greencard Scheme
Denmark Greencard scheme lets you stay in the country for a maximum period of two years and can extend the duration for another three years. Also, you can bring certain family members such as spouse or partner and minor dependent children.
