Work Study Program of USA:

An international student pursuing their undergraduate or postgraduate program in its top institutions of the country can work while studying. There are two types of visa options available for an individual to study in USA; they are F-1 and M-1 visa. 

F-1 student visa:

This visa lets an individual to enter the country as a full time student in University, college, academic institution, language training program or in any of the elementary schools. This non-immigrant visa lets an individual to work in USA during their short stay for 20 hours without any restrictions. Individuals migrating to the country through F-1 visa can work in the organizations through on-campus or off-campus employment opportunities. 

There are five categories of employment sources during the term of candidates stay, they are:

On-Campus Employment: With this, applicants can obtain jobs in USA without relying on any of the other sources. These jobs are not related to your academic studies and do not require any USCIS approval for working. 

Optional Practical Training (OPT): Overseas students are allowed to work off-campus during and after the completion of their graduation. This requires prior approval from the concerned authorities of USCIS. Until and unless you obtain an Employment Authorization Document for minimum of nine months work in the USA, he or she cannot begin the work.

Curricular Practical Training (CPT): This is also an off-campus employment opportunity where the training should be the integral part of the established academic program. Inorder to grab the opportunity, an individual must gain good academic credits.  This is an alternative work/study and internship program.

Economic hardship: This category is applicable for individuals who suffer from economic hardship.

International institutions: Candidates from the institution listed in official state department with a job offer and sponsorship can work while studying.

M-1 Student Visa: 

This visa is applicable for individuals who take up vocational or other nonacademic programs.
