The interview process for entry into the USA

Interview Process

The interview process of gaining entry into the United States of America can seem a very daunting one. Generally for those aged 13 or younger and 80 or older do not need to attend an interview but this is not set in stone and there may be situations where people in those age categories are asked to attend an interview. And interview can take place either in the US or in your native country with a US embassy representative or consulate.

You must acknowledge that there are no waiverable fees to be paid, this are also non refundable. You are required to pay your specific visa fee prior to any interview arrangement, the current fee can be easily accessed on the Immigration Official Website. There may also be a visa insurance fee to pay too but this depends on your native country usually. And then there is the Fraud Prevention and Detection fee as well as a possible Border Security fee - in short, the entire visa process from start to finish to gain entry into the United States is anything but inexpensive!

Items you need to take to your interview are, your passport, your visa receipt number, your police clearance check (this must be paid for and obtained by yourself) birth certificate and any other supporting documents which will be clearly stated within your initial visa application pack. When you attend your interview the sole purpose of this it to firstly ensure you are who you say you are and secondly to judge whether you will indeed contribute to the US and that you pass all the necessary requirements.

The invasive parts are that you will need to undergo a medical examination and you will have to give fingerprints to be stored on the immigration and United States data base. You will undergo an English language test to gauge your ability to read write and speak English to a good standard. You will have to explain your plans and why you have come to the US. If it’s because you have a job offer, for example, you need the supporting documents to back this up.

There’s an American History test to endure so it is vital that you do your research on the History of America. There are 10 questions to answer and you need to answer correctly at least six of those. The questions are updated and changed regularly to ensure that no new migrants pass on the details to prospective migrants. You must always be honest throughout the entire process, anything you wish to hide will definitely be discovered so it is much better for you to be truthful about everything. Lying on official government documents and or to officials is a criminal offence and will not only result in your application being firmly denied but may mean you can never apply again or you could even face legal action.
