Live in USA

Live in USA
If you have decided to live in USA one of your first priorities will be finding accommodation on both a temporary and longer term basis.

How to Live in USA :

Although it's possible to start looking before you come to live in USA, you might it easier to track down what you want after you arrive. You therefore may initially want to arrange temporary accommodation only to tide you over until you find a permanent place to live in USA. If you are lucky you may have friends or family you can stay with but if not, there are plenty of hotels and hostels to pick from all over the country.

You might find that you are unable to rent a home to live in USA if you don't have a Social Security Number; many landlords will insist on this before agreeing to accept you as a tenant. You can apply for your SSN when you complete your visa application; this will help to speed things up when you come to live in USA. If you didn't do this, you can make the application in person after you arrive.

Life in USA :

Most individuals opt to rent when they first come to live in USA and there is plenty of choice in the housing market. Apartments, condominiums and houses are all freely available for rent although you might find more of certain types of accommodation in different parts of the country.

You will be asked to sign a tenancy agreement when you find a place you like; this is a legally binding document so it's important to make sure you are happy with everything it contains. Some types of rental properties have their utility bills included in the rates, whilst others must be paid for separately. Make sure you understand what your responsibilities are so that you don't get a black mark on your newly created US credit rating.

Your landlord is responsible for any problems which occur with the property and is obliged to fix them safely, properly and in a timely manner. You will be responsible for any damage caused whilst you are living in the property. If the damage is not repaired by the time you move out, you can expect to lose some or all of your deposit to pay for it to be fixed.

Finally, although you might have only just arrived to live in USA, no landlord is allowed to discriminate against you on grounds of your race, color, language, and religion or country that you came from. If you are refused housing for any of these reasons you can contact the Department of Housing and Urban Development for help and assistance.
