Where in the UK to go?

where in the Uk to go

If you have applied for and been granted a visa for temporary entry into the UK then the next step must be planning your location. This will vary for every type of visa. For example, if you are arriving on a Business Visa for work purposes the chances are that your company will have this covered, if you are arriving on a Student Visa to study at a UK education establishment then you will have been granted student accommodation in halls of residence usually or fully advised and helped through your options. Those seeking asylum will be expertly helped by the UK immigration authorities about safe accommodation and helped with the process. But for those on other visas under the Temporary Category may be going it alone and so to seek the best, most affordable and appropriate location before you arrive is essential.

The UK is home to cities such as the Capital London, Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Newcastle, Glasgow, Bristol, Edinburgh, Cardiff are the major cities in the country. To stay in a city will always cost you more than to stay outside of a city in a suburban, rural, urban or town setting. The pros to living in a major city is that you will be close to all amenities such as entertainment, buildings of interesting, historical architecture, galleries, wine bars, restaurants, pubs and clubs as well as many work opportunities if your specific visa allows. The downside is cost! What you would pay in rent for a one bedroom apartment in London you could live in a 3-4 bedroom house for more up north and away from a city, so decide what is most important to you. City accomodation is going to be modern, it’s going to be more than adequate and you're going to gain a full experience of city life in the UK - the good the bad and the ugly!

You are likely to be more widely accepted in a city with all cities in the UK having large multi cultural societies, there is no prejudice or racism and people are taken on face value though this is not always the same for less populated places such as suburbs. In a suburb you will get more for your money, food is cheaper and more plentiful, transport is cheaper and less crowded, the air is cleaner the pace of life slower and you can gain a real feel for authentic English life.
