WTTC provides suggestions to Canada on the Travel and Tourism Sector

Travel and Tourism of Canada
The government of Canada has been urged by WTTC to consider the sector of Travel and  Tourism more seriously.
David Scowsill, President and CEO of The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), has said that tourism taxes and cuts in the marketing budgets of Canada are hindering the growth of its Travel and Tourism sector. The WTTC has unveiled its ‘Annual Economic Impact 2014 Canada’ on 24th March, 2014.

WTTC’s report has shown that in 2013, Canada’s tourism sector had an economic contribution of about 2.6 % and this is expected to grow by an addition of 3.9% in the current year.

Mr. Scowsill feels that Canada has the strength to contribute a lot to the economy from the sector of Travel and Tourism. He stated that Canada‘s natural beauty and people, who are friendly in nature have made it a beautiful place to visit. But, at the same time he feels that the government of Canada is not considering the economic potential of the Travel and Tourism sector seriously enough.

Mr. Scowill has insisted the government of Canada to start using a plan or a system to improve the Travel and the Tourism sector in the long run. He suggests that Canada should invest more money on publicizing itself, so that it would encourage more people to make Canada as their choice of destination. He also said that WTTC would encourage the government of Canada to have its focus on the plans that would facilitate the travel requirements both from and to and inside Canada. It would also encourage investors in the public sector and would render its services to the tourists.

In brief, Mr Scowsill has said that if the government of Canada would increase the priority of the Travel and the Tourism sector, it would reap good rewards economically for the country. He also said that if Canada looks forward to reduce the taxes on tourism, carries on with the liberal policies of visas and expands its key national budgets on marketing, it would have a strikingly favorable influence on jobs and also would enhance the prosperity of the nation.
