Prime Minister Peter O'Neill of Papa New Guinea has given a confirmation that their cabinet has decided to start banning visas on arrival for Australians. Only those who arrive by boat from Tabubil and Kokopo will be given visas on arrival.

This change will mean that all Australians wanting to travel to their neighbour will have to get a visa from home first.

PM O'Neill said that there was no discrimination at all. Australians who want to travel to Papa New Guinea muss apply for a visa from their own country.

We have this in place for many countries all over the world not only in Australia. This is called reciprocal rights, it is the same arrangement for everyone.

They did not intend to discriminate said Prime Minister O'Neill in an interview yesterday. The authority who promotes tourism was not aware of this change at all.

Colin Taimbari, the spokesman for the tourism promotion authority took confirmation of this news from the immigration department.

This rule will come in effect when the prime minister signs it off. Papa new guinea has banned visa on arrival for many countries which include africas, middle eastern countries, islands from carribean states, china, vietnam, india and russia.
