August 2017, 28
EMAIL  Print A+
The Applicants for skilled work visa applications from Indians, with the aim of living and working in the UK, has witnessed a decline of dropped by 4 %  during the current year, as per the statement of Home Office. This is a consequence of the restrictions placed by the government in the visa regime.  As per Home Office in the UK, the figures for  Indians who had sought to sponsor of visa application was 29,800 for the year ending in June 2017.  The factor responsible for this is the quantum of restrictions placed by the government in the UK. This has been done with the aim to reduce the number of migrants.

Indian were an impressive 29,800 which is 54 %  of skilled workers looking out for sponsoring visa-applications for the year which ends in June 2017, followed by USA nationals with 5,686 – with barely 10 %. There was a reduction of 4%   in the number of sponsored-visa applications for Indians whereas the USA applicants were 9 %.

As per the records available in the  UK Office of Statistics, Indians remained the largest group in performing and obtaining visas for skilled-work from the UK.  53,366 out of 92,805  (58 % ) of the work visas given. In this, the IT Sector had a share of 42%   among the aspirants of skilled-work visa submitted by Indians.

The latest figures released by ONS today also reflect a great exodus of the EU nationals marking a great drop in immigration for living and working in the UK owing to the referendum held in June 2016 for the exit of Britain from EU. The actual figures of migration, which is the difference between those arriving and departing the United Kingdom, declined to 246,000 showing a figure of 81,000  in the year until March 2017. a substantial change ( 51,000) was caused by the decrease in actual migration done by EU citizens.

The ONS figures reveal a  rise of 17,000 who chose to leave belonging to EU8 countries comprising of Hungary, Czech Republic,  Poland,  Latvia, Estonia, Slovakia, Lithuania, and Slovenia.  Less number of EU migrants,  from 47,000 to 29,000 arrived in the UK aiming to work than ever before in a year which ended in June 2017.

The actual migration change happened as a result of an increased immigration, by EU citizens particularly by EU8 nationals, and a gradual decline in immigration in all other groups as stated by  Nicola White, who heads the department of statistics international migration at the Office of National Statistics.  These results bear a close resemblance to the estimates of 2016 and very much reveal that the result of EU referendum had influenced the decision of the people for migration into as well as out of the United Kingdom, more so for citizens belonging to EU and European Union 8  nations. It may not be a trend for a longer term hopefully she opined.

There was an apprehension in the minds of the Business leaders that this decline in combination with a reduced skilled migrants force from other than the European Union could make the selection of right people difficult for those in the job market
