US immigration
The USA is a very popular country to emigrate to. In its history, most of the civilisation there was formed by European immigrants, which is why you will find a wide range and diversity found in few countries across the world. America is seen as the land of opportunity, and there are many avenues into which you can explore you options with regards to living and working in America through their varied immigration channels.

One of the most common ways of immigrating to America is through employment. If you have a job offer from a US employer, they can sponsor your visa application and this can ensure that you are accepted for immigration. However, there are certain criteria which you will need to meet, one of which will be the requirement to have some sort of skill, in order to give the US government a reason to hire you over an say unskilled American citizen who is already there.

Another process you can go through for immigration is naturalization.  If you have served in the US military, or have a US spouse, you can be put forward for naturalization without having to spend the usual 5 years in the country in order to become a “native” US citizen.  Some relatives of current Green card holding people can also apply for a green card based on their spouses or family members green card.

For those who wish to escape a humanitarian crisis, the US government will look at these on a case by case basis, taking into account the threat of danger to the prospective immigrant if they are to be sent back to their country of origin, and the facilities and living conditions of the area.

Many people use these and many other reason to try and gain immigration status, and many spend a long time trying with no avail to gain their green card, but for those that do, America can be a fantastic place to live. For many people, immigration is only the first step into integrating into American society and the hardest task that faces them is getting to know their neighbors, especially if they don’t speak the language. Therefore it will help you, and your green card application, if you can pick up a little of the language at least before you attempt to immigrate to America. As everyday life can be difficult f you don’t speak English.

Immigration officials also take kindly to the fact that you have made an attempt to embrace their culture, and if you know a little American history, you can also pass muster with your new neighbors.  In America it’s important to be friends with your neighbors, and most Americans pride themselves on being good hosts. So expect a good welcome when you do settle into American life!
