UK Plans to Attract Indian Students
In order to reverse the trend of reducing number of Indian student arrivals to the UK, the Minister for Science and Universities, Greg Clark is visiting India to present an inviting image of Britain.

During his visit to India he wants to state that there is no cap on the number of student arrivals to the UK. The president of Universities UK, Prof Christopher Snowden, will be associated with the minister and mentioned that the visit will be an opportunity to strengthen the educational links that exist between the two nations.

Universities UK, a body that represents all UK universities, stated that it will lure qualified foreign students and staff to the country. Prof Christopher Snowden said that the plan also includes broadening the opportunities for qualified overseas graduates who wish to reside in the UK to work for a certain period and contribute to the economy. He also specified that foreign students will be able to work for 20 hours a week while they study in the UK and the post-study work opportunities in graduate jobs are also available.

Universities UK noted that Britain remains one of the most sought-after destinations for foreign students across the globe.

Reportedly, Indians formed the second largest group of international students in UK, followed by China. Notably, 22,385 Indian students were enrolled at higher educational institutions.

Prof Snowden said that they entice students from various countries including India. Indians make a significant contribution to higher education in UK in terms of culturally, academically and economically.

Further he added that there is huge potential in proceeding with building bi-lateral links between industry, business and the University of Birmingham.
