UK's James Brokenshire has made changes to the Immigration rules

James Brokenshire, Minister for Immigration and Security has laid the written ministerial statement in the House of Commons on 13th March 2014. This comprises of the changes in UK immigration rules. The UK government has made a lot of changes to Points-Based System work routes in order to enhance the flexibility for the visa applicants and also help to improve the growth in the economy.

The statement incorporates extending the category of Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) for the sake of inclusion of the most important talent in the sector of digital technology and also to make it simpler for the visa applicants to file their applications from overseas.

James Brokenshire has said that Tier 2 is the main route for those who have the skilled job offer. Because of this reason, he said that he has improved flexibility for the migrants and the employers by approving the application to be permitted for up to 5 years at one time rather than an utmost 3 years at one time right now. He also said that he has laid a revised regulation, which ensures that the changes to the requirements of Tier 2 are also applicable to the nationals of Croatia.

Oman, United Arab Emirates, and Qatar have been added to the list of the countries, whose nationals gain from various documentary requirements, while also closing the exemption from the test pertaining to the ‘genuineness’ that is applicable to the nationals present on this list, when filing an application for a Tier 4 visa.

James Brokenshire said that he is making planned updates to the requirements of maintenance fund, salary and numerous insignificant changes to the categories of Points-Based System. The changes in the maintenance fund for the applications would come into effect from July 1st 2014.  

He also said that he is creating a latest category for the teachers of foreign government sponsored language under the Tier 5 Government approved Exchange route. This will let the sponsored teachers of the government to exchange knowledge and also will be able to get to know about the cultures and the foreign languages in the United Kingdom. The Mandarin teaching scheme is the first of the scheme to get the support, which has plans to promote better cultural relations between China and United Kingdom.

He said that he has made changes to the requirements of visit visas for nationals of Bahrain. All the nationals of Bahraini who possess an ambassadorial and special passports provided by Bahrain will no longer have to possess a visit visa when coming to UK for a general visit. 

James Brokenshire has said that he has made changes to the rules of Immigration, according to which the nationals of Venezuela have to acquire a visa prior to their visit to the UK. 

In order to adhere to the judgment of Supreme Court’s in Munir, they have incorporated into the Rules of Immigration optional policies for NATO’s civilian employees, and the Defense Department of Australia and the employees of organizations who are under the contract of NATO.
