Tougher rules for undocumented migrants: UK

Migrants UK

Recently in the UK a migrant male who was an illegal in the country won a court battle against unfair treatment by the Immigration Authorities. He claimed to have a mental illness and so the Judge decided that his arrest and detention had been unlawful, as they had caused him to not receive medical treatment - incidentally medical treatment which he was not already receiving. This has caused uproar in the house of commons and sparked a new debate on the treatment for illegal migrants in the UK.

With word spreading quickly it will now be used often by migrants facing deportation to claim to be ill and to use the UK’s generous system by exploiting the rules which are there to protect migrants. The UK is a fair and caring society and will not allow unfair treatment of any person here, whether here illegal or not. But the recent news story, which has gone global, is sure to give my illegal migrants an idea of how to drain more money out of the system. Using their human rights in a court of law to receive substantial financial damages will now be a tempting prospect.

If a person has a mental illness this can be extremely difficult to diagnose and to establish the degree of the illness is a lengthy, and costly process. One which whilst undergo will mean a migrant cannot be deported. If an illegal migrant is diagnosed to have a mental illness then they are within their rights to sue the Immigration Authorities.

During the debate nearly 100 MP’s agreed that ministers should be the ones given the final say on whether deportation of a migrant would be breaching their human rights, and that this is not a decision most appropriately made with a judge.

If their agreement is ran through the house of commons and finalized this could mean a whole change of procedures for the illegal migrants in the country. They will no longer be able to pursue money in damages from a Judge, they will have to go to the people who they are suing and so their case is unlikely to be as successful.

Every UK citizen, including those whom are foreign born, are the top priority for the UK and the amount of money that illegal migrants are costing the country needs to be stopped, one way or another.
