With the Canadian Immigration Minister John McCallum announcing that the department is planning to speed up the time of processing for family class and economic immigrants. Things are also looking great even for the Indian citizens who are planning to migrate to Canada.

According to McCallum, the department needs to re engineered in terms of the process it follows and the speed at which it work.

McCallum declared that the categories of immigration like family class require to be repaired and changes will soon be declared to streamline them.  Discussions are already on with the provincial governments for looking in the process of providing much more control to the provinces of Canada over the selection of economic migrants through the PNP programs.

Another key announcement that has been made by the Immigration Minister was about taking the views of the provincial governments on the schemes of immigration for fewer and semi skilled immigrants. This can lead to easy rules for the foreign students to permanently settle down in Canada. And also scrapping the LMIA in few cases.

According to the Calgary MP, Deepak Obhrai, the Indian citizens who are residing in the country makes up a tough and energetic community in Canada and their contribution are huge. He also said that the Indian citizens in Canada are the great source of immigration to Canada and when they got a faster way of becoming the citizens of Canada, the country gets benefited.

According to the spokesperson for the Canada High Commission in Delhi, presently the high commission is offering Canada visa service to expedite the processing for Indian citizens who move to Canada  and most of them were granted multiple entry visas, enhancing the overall time of processing for all the travelers from India.

The proposed reforms would be positive for students from India and would push the country higher in the scale of attractiveness.  The latest bill plans two important changes that would be great for students from India. Initially, to minimize the period of physical residency needed to apply for citizenship of Canada from 4 out of 6 years to 3 out of 5 years.

And also to restore a rule that permits the foreign students to count the time spend studying or working in Canada against their residency need. If students from India could get the compulsory 50% credit for time they spend in Canada, it would make the route to smooth immigration. This would be helpful for undergraduates’ students as well who will be able to obtain credit for two years out of the needed three assuming they meet all the requirements.
