Because there is an increase in the level of youth unemployment in Australia the ACTU (Australian Council of Trade Union) is urging for a review in the working holiday visa program. This request is begin made before Australia signs an agreement with Greece on the working holiday visa program., since they have made some extended negotiations on the new agreement.

visaPresident Ged Kearney of ACTU said that the government should strictly review the working holiday visa program before signing the new agreement  with any new European country or Greece who are facing economic issues.

Ms Kearney said that only the young people in Australia who are unemployed upto the age of 19 years has increase to 25 per cent.

Before we open the doors of our country to youngsters from another nations we must make it a point to look into the fact that what impact will this have on the Australian economy and the Australian unemployed youth.

Dr Bob Mirell who's Monash University's demographer said that he totally agreed with what Ms. Kearney said.

It was said by Dr Birrell that they needed to make major changes to the Australia working holiday visa program as there was increase by 30 percent in the number of youngsters from other countries who were coming into Australia.

The number of people who have been granted the working holiday visa has increased tremendously.

Many few Australians are going to foreign nations as working holiday makers, but the number of people coming into Australia is huge and that is creating a big imbalance in people coming in and people going out.

Dr Birrell stated that the Australian government should not sign any agreement with any new countries for the working holiday visa program but also consider the plight of the young people living in Australia. The Australian government is just not concerned or bothered about the youth of their own home country added Dr Birrell.
