Saudi Residents must clear fines before Cancelling Visas

It has been announced by the Director of Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Interior for the United Emirates that a clearance certificate must be issued to anyone wishing to cancel their residence visa and leave the country. This certificate would indicate that the person has paid all traffic fines in their name before they leave.

These certificates can be collected from police customer service counters and will show that all fines have been paid. The visa cancellation can then be processed. A small number of police stations currently offer the service and more will be added in the coming months.
The move has been brought in to combat the fact that many people leave the country with fines in their names and it will also protect federal finances. There will also be a direct linkage between all residency, immigration and foreign affairs departments and the federal traffic system across all seven Emirate states so that cross checking can occur.
