With a number of changes made this year in Canadian immigration programs which now gives a lot of people the opportunity to apply and get a permanent residence in the country, the offices have taken even more serious steps regarding the non-attendance of candidates who apply but do not appear on the particular date.
Mr. Chris Alexander has announced that any applicant who has applied for a Canadian visa fails to turn up on the assigned date without any particular cause will have his application terminated. Unless the applicant has good enough reason to prove his absence, they will not be re-scheduled for an interview or test. This they believe will speed the immigration procedure and the others who have been waiting for a long time will get the opportunity. It will also make sure that people start taking the issue seriously.
The reasons of the applicants could be either taking care of a dying parent, a serious accident or if the documents needed havenís arrived yet would be reasons that would be accepted and the applicant can be re-scheduled for a meeting on another date.
All these reasons would also require proof that will ensure that the candidate is being honest. Since such procedures take a long time it is necessary that the candidate do not show a careless attitude. In case one cannot attend on the date scheduled they should call the CIC themselves. An applicant gets three monthsí time to respond back to the concerned department, if they do not get back any reply the application is terminated.
