Denmark has never really been seen as one of the popular counties for immigrants to migrate to Denmark. Denmark has always had a very strong sense of national tradition and identity, more people from Denmark emigrated to different countries around the world than foreign nationals entering the country. The early 70's started to see people moving to Denmark, mainly refugees, and then the flow started and immigration into Denmark began to grow.

In 2006 the main immigrants that came to Denmark were asylum seekers, and people coming to study for a short period of time. Every year since 1990 the number of people moving to Denmark has grown and grown and now a green card system is in place to monitor the amount of people who enter Denmark, to make sure they enter legally for legitimate reasons such as work or to study in recognised institutions, under a visa.

Denmark is a very popular country to immigrate to,it is recognised as one of the happiest countries in the whole world and a very attractive choice to make. With a lot of amazing opportunities to take advantage of. Most people do need a visa to travel to and live, work and study in Denmark, some countries of origin do not, you do need to check before entering if you require a visa and obtain one, otherwise you will not be able to stay in the country and do as you intended to do in  Denmark.

The only way in which you will not need to obtain a visa to travel and stay in Denmark is if you have been granted certain kinds of residence or a re entry permit to another schengen country. There are twenty six countries from the European union who are in the schengen boarders agreement.

The Denmark green card scheme is the visa that allows you to enter Denmark legally, there are many parts of the visa; student visa, working permit visa, short stay visa and more. They all have different criteria that must be met but all do run with the initial points system of the green card. Each visa also has different entitlements to them, for instance some you can work on and some you can not. Apply for the correct one to ensure your stay in Denmark is a pleasurable one.

Denmark are experiencing very high numbers of applications and so a back log is apparent, the Danish government are making changes for a quicker processing times.
