As per the new Express Entry data there was substantial growth in admissions of applicants and their families in New Brunswick, Ontario, and BC through PNP-linked Express Entry in 2017.

The admissions increased from 7,818 in 2016 to 13,528 in 2017. Additionally, the number of applications which IRCC received from EE candidates through the provincial nomination also increased significantly in that year.  It was 13,292 in 2016 and 17,520 in 2017 - a growth of 32 percent. The   PNPs of Canada, allow the participating provinces/territories to nominate economic immigration candidates seeking PR each year.

EXPRESS ENTRY 2016 Versus 2017: PNP ITAS, details

Canadian provinces and territories mostly have an enhanced PNP nomination stream which is aligned with the federal Express Entry system that supervises the pool of candidates in the three federal economic immigration classes the Federal Skilled Worker Class, the Federal Skilled Trades Class and the Canadian Experience Class.

All Express Entry candidates receiving the nomination of a province or territory get 600 additional points in their CRS score. This assures them to get an ITA for PR.

Among the EE candidates receiving additional points apart from their core CRS score in 2017, 22 percent received a provincial nomination.

Ontario top province of destination

Ontario, New Brunswick and British Columbia became the hot destination provinces where there was a notable increase in admissions of EE applicants having a provincial nomination in becoming permanent residents in 2017.

Ontario registered an impressive increase in these admissions from 1,948 to 4,420.

Express Entry candidates having an Ontario nomination and their family members were 12 percent of the 36,087 persons who migrated to the province as new PRs using all categories of Express Entry in 2017. The Express Entry admissions in Ontario in 2017, increased by 190 percent, compared to the total of 12,397 in 2016.

In New Brunswick the increase in growth from 2016 to 2017 was 240 per cent among the new permanent residents through Express Entry having a provincial nomination in 2017.

In British Columbia, the year-over-year increase was 1,142 new permanent residents.

Express Entry admissions having a provincial nomination was 24 percent of the 12,401 people who gained admission to British Columbia as PRs in all EE programs in 2017. Considering all aspects, the number of Express Entry candidates, as well as their family members, who gained admission in Canada, having BC as their destination, during 2017, increased by more than 50 percent from the 2016 total?

Provincial nominations have become a quick process to gain Canadian permanent residence. They are presently important to Express Entry candidates because the federal government has reduced the CRS points which are awarded for a job offer. This gives the provincial nomination an additional factor to receive 600 points.

A few PNP streams linked to Express Entry do not need a minimum CRS score for eligibility. This allows candidates having a score that does not meet the cut-off for EE invitation rounds to try for permanent residence.

Additionally all PNP streams do not require Canadian study in the past or a job offer. IRCC statistics confirm that 64.7 percent immigrants gaining admission through PNP between.
