Projections for Immigration Regulations released by IRCC
Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) on the eve of Thanksgiving made a major announcement related to the various changes to the immigration regulations that will be in effect soon. The major reforms that will be implemented during the year 2016-2018 are published in the Forward Regulatory Plan. The Regulatory Plan frameworks the probable reviews to the existing condition of the several immigration programs.

The Forward Regulatory Plandoes not mentions or implements the changes in the system but instead releases a list of the anticipated regulatory reforms that IRCC plans to implement in coming years. Some of the objectives proposed in the plan are:

  • Definition of the Dependent Children to be reformed
  • Modifications to the Provisional PR for Newly Sponsored Partners
  • Reforms to Support Changes in the Citizenship Act
  • Changes to Business Migration Programs
  • Modifications to the International Mobility Program
  • Reforms to Support the Expansion of Eligibility for the ETA.
  • Changes to Support the Extension of Biometrics
  • Alterations to Support 5 Nation Conference Information Sharing
  • Modifications to aid Further Enhancements to the In-Canada Asylum Structure
  • Reforms to Support the Electronic Administration/Processing of Applications under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act

Several Government departments at Canada regularly release the Forward Regulatory Plans, to inform the locals and the businesses about the planned reforms and activities which will be implemented by the IRCC in future.

“Many of these changes and objectives may seem unconnected to the most popular streams of immigration — for example, Express Entry and the Provincial Nominee Programs are not mentioned. However, individuals interested in immigrating to Canada should note that this Forward Regulatory Plan reflects an ongoing commitment from IRCC to remain accountable and transparent to the public, and to continue to improve its services.” said the Attorney David Cohen.
