To live and work in New Zealand while studying is something which all overseas students aspire for. Now that the NZ government has taken this fact into account, it will be a great news for overseas students who relocate to NZ for their Research (Masters) or PhD, the rights given to these students will be effective from January 2014. Therefore, students can now pack-up and get ready to migrate to NZ.
There is a current scheme, in which, overseas graduate students are granted a post-study-work visa by New Zealand government. The new initiative will also grant the privilege of working full-time during semester breaks, until now, overseas students enrolled for one year courses were only eligible for part-time work. Other than this, the jackpot announcement also benefit those students who wish to enter New Zealand for short-term courses, they can work up to 20 hours a week, which is a completely a new initiative.
There are over 11,000 Indian students out of the 90,000 plus International students in New Zealand. After Chinese, Indian students are the second largest nationality out of the international lot. The country also see a steady flow of aspiring students from around the globe, this further adds an additional $2 Billion annually to the government's pocket from overseas students.
The government is particular about the quality of education imparted to these students as well, because of which, students seeking admissions in institutions rated Category-4 won't be granted visas. The New Zealand Quality Authority only want the students to experience the best quality that NZ has to offer.
Global recession seems to have affected a lot of countries, including UK, even though it is hardly visible in NZ. However, planning for the worst is always a life saver, students must be better positioned in any situation where they can hold themselves up until they find a job, they would also save up enough to cover their expenses until they find the job.
Over a quarter-million Indian students go abroad annually to pursue their higher education after schooling. With U.S having a major chunk of them (almost half), U.K comes a close second in the list in attracting Indian students. However, with strict visa rules surfacing in U.S and the mammoth hike in UK student visa fee, New Zealand student visas are really high in demand. For students planning to live and study in New Zealand, any top NZ immigration consultants would be able to help and get the visa prepared for a brighter future.
