Oversea Adoption into US on rise

adoption into us

Since the Typhoon hit the Philippines, American TV sets have been displaying the many orphans left destitute, alone and frightened on the streets and in the child institutions of the Philippines. Comfortable US families have taken these images into their hearts and wish to bring these vulnerable children into their homes, however it is not that easy.

It seems ironic that there’s children in such utter need of a home, and US residents so eager to give it that there has to be such a lengthy legal process of obtaining correct visas and getting through the masses of red tape in place. The Visa Process is to protect all involved and is something which cannot be abolished but it is a huge obstacle and test of willpower for many as well as a costly exercise when including travel and transportation fees to bring your prospective adoptive child home. The process begins with the prospective adoptive parents submitting the relevant form to the USCIS who will then review the application and direct it to the U.S Embassy in the country where the child in question lives. All children who are adopted outside of the U.S will need to undergo medical checks to ensure they have no transmittable diseases such as TB.

There are many official adoption agencies in the U.S who are doing their utmost with the prospective parents to aid the orphans of the Philippines to sanctuary but it is not an easy road to go down and there’s many tough things people will have to face where feelings will get hurt as well as finances lost, for example you could be matched with a child whom you immediately take to, the child adores you and all is going well until a relative of the child comes out of the woodwork and claims guardianship, you will then have no legal rights to adopt said child and this can be extremely distressing especially if you are nearing the end of the adoption and visa process.

To try and adopt one of the many orphans now left in the Philippines is going to be something which is quite impossible to do alone, one reason is the many scam artists who latch on the world crisis’ and take advantage of people good natures and desire to help. Agencies which specialise in overseas adoptions are registered and genuine, they are made up of people wanting to help and are a godsend when you see just what it is you are up against. The road is a worthwhile one, but it certainly is not an easy one yet this is not deterring the many US residents who are in their drones attempting to bring a Filipino child to safety and comfort.
