Ontario Holds Express Entry Draw And Invites 954 Technology Professionals
On January 15th Ontario held a Tech Draw and invited 954 candidates belonging to Express Entry who had the eligible experience to work and asked them to seek provincial nomination for permanent residence. The recipients of Notification of Interest in this draw had an Express Entry CRS score between 460 and 472.

After obtaining the provincial nomination, there is an addition of 600 points and the candidates get a priority for the invitation seeking Canadian permanent residence. Additionally, the selected Candidates needed work experience in these occupations:

  • Interactive media developers and Computer programmers as per NOC 2174
  • Software engineers and designers as per NOC 2173
  • Computer engineers as per NOC 2147
  • Database analysts and data administrators as per NOC 2172
  • Web designers and developers as per NOC 2175
  • Computer and information systems managers as per NOC 0213

In the summer of 2019, Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program commenced the Tech Draws in order to meet the increasing labor requirements in the tech sector.

Ontario is a technology hub, where Toronto, Waterloo, and Ottawa are notable cities.

Getting in the pool of Express Entry

To get a consideration in the Tech Draw, the aspirants must register an eligible profile in the Federal Skilled Worker Class or in the Canadian Experience Class, managed by the system of Express Entry federally.

The candidates are allocated a score in the CRS calculated as per education, age, and work experience and language proficiency.

Tech Draws and their working system

OINP Tech Draws are held by using the Human Capital Priorities provincial immigration stream, allowing the OINP to explore the federal pool of Express Entry for such candidates that meet the eligibility requirements.

  • There is no need for a job offer to be eligible in the Human Capital Priorities Stream.
  • The candidates also must have one year of continuous paid work experience (full-time) or it’s equivalent
  • The National Occupational Classification will decide the skill level and skill type of occupation.
  • Having a Masters degree or a professional bent of mind besides an IELTS score of 8 in each category is very important to get success here.
