November Offers a fine Start Towards Achieving 2018 Express Entry Targets

November 2017, 30
EMAIL  Print A+
The draws, held during the first three weeks of November were four, marking it as an eventful month, in the Express Entry system.

These weekly draws were conducted, subsequent to the announcement, on Nov. 1, made by the Government of Canada, about the new multi-year immigration targets, for the years 2018-2020. The targets foresee an increase of 20 percent, in the figure of candidates, intending to receive PR Status, in the programs performed through the federal Express Entry system in the future three years.

After making the statement, 5,545 ITAs were issued during November 2017. This is beside the record figure of 2017, of ITAs in the system.

In the 28 draws for the year 2017, 80,500 candidates received the Invitations. This compares well with 33,782 Invitations issued during the entire 2016. In the year 2015, 31,063 Invitations were issued.

IRCC has made efforts, to respect its assurance to take six-month processing period and deliver them.

High targets and low scores

The higher targets intended in the immigration categories for 2018 need the IRCC to hold either big draws, or arrange draws, more frequently, based on the pool figures in 2018. Use of both the options is also expected. It is expected that this will see in a low cut-off score in the ranking.

In 2017, ranking cut-off scores were at a variation between 400 and 450, and most often the score was in the 430s. This is better for candidates, over 2016 when there were low Invitations and high ranking cut-off scores. 453 was The lowest CRS score in 2016. With more ITAs expected to be issued in the year 2018, it is hoped that there will be a further drop in CRS scores.

Some 2017 draws, like those held on May 26th and Nov. 1st, were outstanding in nature. They aimed to draw the candidates with the provincial nominations and Federal Skilled Trades Class. The score was 775 for provincial nominees and 199 for candidates in FSTC.

Draws which are Program-specific in effect, lowered the cut-off CRS score very much, and this feature was seen in the specific draws of FSTC. Till now no draw which is specific to a program was held in the FSWC of the Express Entry system. Hence its cut-off score is not known. It is believed that the year 2018 will be very rewarding for candidates of all the categories and help them to realize their Canadian dream.
