Nova Scotia Witnesses Record Number of Nominations for Immigrants in 2017

Under its dynamic Provincial Nominee Program, Nova Scotia has nominated 1,400 immigrants in 2017, which is a record.

This Program accepts applications in the five immigration streams comprising:
  •  Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry category
  •  Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry category
  •  Category of Skilled Workers
  •  Category of Entrepreneurs
  •  Category of International Graduate Entrepreneurs

An active component of NSNP is the Category B of Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry stream, which was open to receive applications, thrice during 2017, and arrived at its intake limit very quickly in all the three instances.
 
It operates on the timing of arrival of Application basis and does not need a job offer. It has two requirements and they are having one year paid work experience in an opportunity occupation of Nova Scotia, and the registration of profile in the Federal Express Entry System.
 
Nova Scotia also witnessed the arrival of 200 immigrants, in 2017 accompanying their families, by using the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program. It is an innovative, immigration partnership of the region, which was established in 2017, covering the Federal Government and the Governments of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island.
 
Totally Nova Scotia welcomed more than 4,000 fresh immigrants during the year 2017, as compared to 5,500 in 2016, which included accommodating 1,500 Syrian refugees.
 
Lena Metlege Diab Immigration Minister Nova Scotia stated that extending help to newcomers in immigration, and in building lives, was a priority for the department, and also for the settlement partners. Immigration was a major factor for the growth of the province, as well as its economy, and the same work will be continued in 2018 also.
