Nova Scotia Express Entry category set to reopen for 350 candidates

About Nova Scotia

The Nova Scotia province will accept 350 fresh applications for the Category B of the Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry stream on April 28. There is a reduction in the opportunity occupations from 16 to 11.  This Category B will reopen on April 28 at 9 A.M. Atlantic Daylight Time.

The norm to apply by using the Category B of the NS Demand: Express Entry stream is that candidates must have work experience of one year in one of the 11 occupations. There is no need of a job offer in this category. Furthermore, there is no mandatory minimum CRS score also.

Moreover, this Category adopts the timing of arrival basis. Additionally, all applicants who get the Nova Scotia nomination receive 600 extra Comprehensive Ranking System points. This immensely helps them in a good positioned to get the Invitation to apply seeking permanent residence in a future federal Express Entry Draw.

Category A of the same stream is open and requires all candidates to get a job offer that is arranged. It must be supported by a positive Labor Market Impact Assessment from of an employer residing in the province.

The candidates who plan to apply for this Category must:
  • Have one year of full-time (or part-time equivalent) skilled work experience during the past six years, in one of the listed opportunity occupations;
  • Their overseas education credentials need assessment and authentication. Moreover, they need to obtain an equivalent value in the country from a designated credential assessment agency;
  • They must have adequate intermediate proficiency in the language (English/French) through a standard language test that is acceptable to both the governments. They need to attain Canadian Language Benchmark 7 also.
  • Obtaining 67 points on the Express Entry points grid, which they receive based on proficiency in a language, work experience, age, educational level and adaptability;
  • They must also register their profile in Express Entry system of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada.

In the list of opportunity occupations, there is the representation of all professions where employment opportunities exist in the province. The classification of occupations has National Occupational Classification as its base. The NOC helps to decide if a job meets the skill levels of skilled and semi-skilled jobs. It also gives a consideration to match the qualifications and experience of a candidate to the job requirements.
