Nova Scotia Announces New Immigration Stream
Nova Scotia, a province of Canada is set to initiate a new provincial immigration program labeled as Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry, effective January 2015. The new program will substitute the former Regional Labour Market Demand program.

Notably, 350 nominations are added to the new stream making the count to 1,050 in 2015, representing a raise of 50% in the overall provincial nomination quota.

Apparently, prospective aspirants must be very skilled and must hold required qualifications and post-secondary education that helps them to settle in the province. Besides this, applicants must demonstrate their interest to stay in the province.

The new program will be in line with the Canadian government’s Express Entry system, which goes into play from 1 January 2015.  Aspirants must be qualified for any of the immigration programs such as FSWP (Federal Skilled Worker Program), FSTP (Federal Skilled Trades Program) and the Canadian Experience Class. For the new provincial stream, the province can choose qualified applicants from the pool of Express Entry candidates.

The Immigration Minister, Lena Metlege Diab said the main motto of the new stream is to offer a quicker path for highly skilled immigrants to move to the province to meet the labor market needs. He further added that the Office of Immigration in Nova Scotia  should work in collaboration with the private divisions to make the most of the new stream.

The national chair of the Premier's Immigration Advisory Council, Wadih Fares said that the province is working hard to utilize the Express Entry system completely.

Sources said that the province worked collaboratively with the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, immigration law practitioners and immigrant settlement organizations to draft the stream.
