New Brunswick PNP: Planning to Increase its Immigration Levels

The Premier of the New Brunswick province wants to increase the NB province’s population to 1 million in the year 2040. Premier Blaine Higgs made up the NB province’s aging population and labor market deficit during a yearly “state of the province” speech, the Canadian Press states.

The premiere related to the New Brunswick province’s population growth plan published this past summer, which states that approximately 120,000 jobs will become accessible in New Brunswick province over the next decade.

The growth plan also states that New Brunswick province will increase the number of economic newcomers settling in New Brunswick province in every year to 7,500 by the year 2024.

However, those numbers were fixed by the Canadian government, and Higgs told the business people audience and reporters that the province would be driving for an intake of 10,000 per year.

He told that the province is starting new offices in India and also in Europe in order to improve New Brunswick provincial immigration and to welcome international talent and investors.

Immigrating to New Brunswick Province through Express Entry

International citizens who want to bring their education, skills, and work experience to New Brunswick province may qualify for the New Brunswick's Express Entry Stream.

The provincial immigration stream is associated with the Canadian government’s Express Entry system, which handles applications through 3 immigration programs: Canadian Experience Class; Federal Skilled Worker Program; and the Federal Skilled Trades Program.

To qualify for the New Brunswick's Express Entry stream, applicants first require to build an Express Entry profile, where they will be provided a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score depends on their educational level, work experience, age of the applicant, and language ability.

Once applicants are in the pool of Express Entry, and can meet some province-specific eligibility criteria then they can create an Expression of Interest (EOI) with the province of New Brunswick.

On occasion, the province of New Brunswick will invite applicants directly from the pool of Express Entry in response to labor market requirements.
