Labour Force Survey Reveals Alberta, B.C. and Manitoba Added More Jobs

Alberta, British Columbia, and Manitoba all combined jobs in August, as per the latest Labour Force Survey. The analysis of monthly jobs market from Statistics Canada reveals the trio provided approximately 30,000 jobs between them, higher than half in Alberta.

Different provinces to give less significant increases involved Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan, and Newfoundland & Labrador. Nationally, the rate of Canada unemployment edged up in the month of August from 5.8 percent to 6 percent, as the whole jobs figures recorded a decline of more than 50,000.

The decline observed two months of increases and was operated by a drop of 92,000 in part-time employment, while full-time job increased. Over the previous 12 months, employment has risen by 172,000, or approximately 1 percent. This involves a gain of 326,000 in full-time employment (2.2%), offset by a 154,000 drop in part-time (-4.3%).

Performance of Canadian Provinces

Alberta totaled 16,200 jobs as the greatest performing province in the month August. The province has now totaled 53,000 jobs in the previous 12 months and has a 6.7 percent of the unemployment rate.

In British Columbia province, employment improved by 9,900, although the rate of unemployment rose as more people explored for work. The western province still has the weakest unemployment of all the regions, at 5.3 percent. Manitoba, while, totaled 2,600 jobs and had a 5.8 percent of the unemployment rate.

Best Performing Industries in Canada

The main increases on the industry front in August were seen in the building, business and other support services, which totaled 10,000 jobs.

Most of the different industry saw little change or drops.
