IT Occupations are Hugely Demanded Professions in Canada - a Study

A new study reveals the most in-demand occupations in Canada, in 2018, and informing that IT Project Managers, Business Analysts, and Software Engineers figure among the top ten positions.

An annual study in Canada placed business analysts in the fifth position, IT project managers in seventh and software engineers on ninth.

This study was carried out looking at job placements job openings and other relevant data from the Canadian market.

The technology was an ideal job sector in Canada and had speedily added new jobs meant for developers and analysts.

The results were published when Justin Trudeau Prime Minister of Canada is undertaking the first visit to San Francisco, where he will canvass for Canada to become a favored destination for some U.S. technology companies.

The Canadian government is working to take advantage of the uncertainty of skilled overseas tech workers in the US owing to the hard-line policies pursued by President Trump on immigration. Trudeau will make an attempt to attract them to Canada.

Coding skills have great demand

One finding of the study shows that developers who have knowledge of front and back-end coding have great demand. Java and SQL were at the top of developer skills. There was a demand for Python and dot net also.

As per the study, the top tech-sector jobs were:
  1.   Project managers
  2.   Software engineers
  3.   Web developers
  4.   Program analysts
  5.   Java developers

The IT sector of Canada has 488,000 professionals on rolls and 11,500 new jobs were added in 2017. Most of the jobs were created in Toronto (5000) and in Montreal (2,000).

IT immigration programs

There is a huge demand for workers who possess technical expertise, and Canada as well as its provinces, implement immigration programs targeting them facilitating their entry into the country.

A Global Talent Stream of the federal government was created in 2017 for expediting the processing of work permits meant for highly skilled workers in several technological occupations.

British Columbia conducts weekly draws for such workers and has a job offer using the Tech Pilot program. Ontario also conducts searches which are tech-specific in the federal Express Entry pool using the Human Capital Priorities Stream.

Technological jobs figure highly in the in-demand professions in New Brunswick, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia and Manitoba.

General laborers top overall list

The list of in-demand jobs, had General Labourers among the top ten, followed by Sales representatives, Accountants Project Managers, Business Analysts, Customer Service Representatives, IT Project Managers, Account Managers, Software Engineers, and Forklift Operators.
