Indian Students Form Second Largest Group in US
Students from India comprise the second biggest group in US schools, amounting to 146,336 which is a 9% increase since last year October. The largest group is formed by the Chinese, with 331, 371 which is a meager increase from the previous October. 76% of all foreign students in the U.S. belong to Asia. The ten leading nations of U.S. citizenship for overseas students is China, India, South Koreas, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Japan and Vietnam, Taiwan, Mexico, and Brazil.

According to a quarterly report on foreign students admitted in the U.S, highlights a web-based February 2015 data. It has all the requisite information about the students from abroad, exchange tourists, and their dependents. According to a 6 February report, 1.13 million foreign students holding an M (vocational) or F (academic) had taken admission at approximately 8,979 U.S. schools, which depicted a 14.18% rise. The University of Southern California, Columbia University, New York University, Purdue University and the University of Illinois were the host for the maximum number of foreign students, with each place showing about 10,000 enrollments.

These universities have a number one ranking. 37% foreign students took admission in the U.S., equaling more than 40,000 students who took admission in the STEM program starting in February. And 86% who studied STEM belong to Asia.

The women students who took up STEM course rose more than 68%, from 76,638 in February 2010 to a total of 128,807 in 2015 in the month of February. Out of this, 62% alone comprised of women coming from China and India. Those who pursued STEM-master’s degree rose to 114%. Overall, 34% of all female students in the STEM program had taken admission in California, Texas and New York. A U.S. school needs to be SEVP-certified before taking in foreign students on a student visa. The report also said that 76% of such schools had nearing to fifty international students. 

The report carries information about educational levels and gender from various geographical areas around the world. The country allows only legitimate exchange visitors and students to enter its nation in order to safeguard national security.
