Acquiring a foreign degree became easier for Indian students. A recent ruling gave India a higher rating within Australia, for immigration. With this positive development, Australia will become an attractive option, for Indian students, to pursue higher education overseas. 60,000 Indians had traveled to Australia for pursuing studies in 2016, and it is expected that the present year will also witness good numbers.

The notification, which issued by DIBP Australia, has made a few changes in its Simplified Student Visa Framework'. As per the recent rule, India has been upgraded from Level III of high-risk rating to Level II of a moderate risk.

India is sending many students to Australia and presently stands next only to China. With this move, more opportunities will open up, for students to secure their visas. After remaining in this category for 13 years, India has been moved to a position of comfort. Gurinder Bhatti, MD ESS Global, said that now the student visa process has been simplified in a big way.

The students will now need only a confirmation of enrolment, from the university concerned, that their application has been accepted, and can travel to Australia. This is in contrast to the earlier situation when an excessive criterion, like Statement of Purpose, statements on family income and from banks were required to be produced.

With the easing of norms to secure visas, it is expected that 10,000 - 15,000 more students will opt for Australia in the ensuing academic year.

People who are involved in processing student visas confirmed that the addition of three annual intakes by Australia, compared to the fall or spring intake, in other countries, was an appealing and deciding factor, to attract more international students.
