Hong Kong says do not blame Migrants
Hong Kong is currently facing a housing crisis, a shortage of homes for citizens is causing debates as some believe it is due to the amount of immigrants who migrate to Hong Kong each month. However some believe it has nothing to do with the number of immigrants and that people are unjustifiably putting the blame on migrants instead of the actual root of the problem. Hostilities and resentment towards migrants has never been an issue and it is hoped it will not become one now. Blaming immigrants and demanding a cap on the amount of immigrants allowed into Hong Kong will been seen as discrimination, although up to one hundred and fifty new immigrants can enter Hong Kong each month, over the recent years this has not been the case.

The main problem with housing in Hong Kong is the lack of land. No land means that development can not happen and so the prices of the housing will increase, with property's in such high demand and even rental property's, a high price can be put on to them, someone will pay it as they need the accommodation in Hong Kong. Waiting lists for public rental housing is already long and with no land to build new accommodation the list will undoubtedly continue to get bigger. Over ten years ago there were a lot of empty properties in Hong Kong and immigration was at the same rate then as it is now, people did not have a problem with the high housing prices then and did find the low prices unreasonable, there was not waiting list or a very short waiting list for public rental housing, if everything was the same then including the amount of immigrants, how can immigrants be the cause of the housing problem? This is what people want to know who believe it unfair and unjust to blame immigrants in Hong Kong.

It is proven that the problem with the lack of housing is the lack of property's being built but many do not want to face up to the reality and look for a scapegoat instead. Land is available in Hong Kong no development has been approved for the vacant land. Critics persist in finding other solutions to housing whenever a development is proposed. These solutions that are put forward are not practical, statistics prove this with the amount still waiting to be housed and unfortunately there does not seem to be a change about to come, blame is unfairly and falsely being blamed on immigrants, legal immigrants who boost the economy of Hong Kong.
