Hong Kong Travel Visas
The residents of Hong Kong, who are planning for a visit abroad during their Easter vacation are advised to file their application for travel documents at an early period.

On March 16th, 2014, a spokesman from the Immigration Department has said that the time required for HKSA (Hong Kong Special Administrative Region) to process the applications of  passport is usually 10 working days only after receiving all the essential documents such as the applicants photograph and the fee for the application. As regards children who are below 11 years of age and are not holding the permanent identity card of Hong Kong, it generally takes 14 working days. Regarding the applications that are submitted through online or drop box, it might generally take 2 to 3 working days. Any filed applications pertaining to damage, loss or any change in the personal information have to be filed in person. The time required to process such applications might be long.

The government entertains the passport requests made by the applicants, who are under situations that require an immediate attention, under circumstances that are justifiable. Usually, no preference would be given to the people who would be on a trip for pleasure.

All the applicants who are eligible and are above the age of 18 may have to submit their applications of HKSAR passport through the self service booths that are available at the immigration Headquarters. The applications can also be submitted at the available branch offices, during the working hours of the office.

All the applicants who are eligible and fall in the age group of 11 years - 17 years may have to submit their applications of HKSAR passport through the booths available at the Headquarters of Immigration, during working hours of office. All the applicants who are willing to collect their travel documents in person are advised to make their prior appointments through internet.

The branch offices and the Headquarters of immigration provide the application forms for passport and also provide the pamphlets pertaining to the information on the application process and the required documents for submission. The application form can be downloaded from the Internet.

ROTI (Registration of Outbound Travel Information) can be used by the residents of Hong Kong prior to their visit abroad. This service can be used by Hong Kong residents to record their details of contact and the details about their planned journey. This information provided would be helpful to the immigration department of Hong Kong to extend their support to the Hong Kong residents under situations that may involve some seriousness, or in case of any unexpected events that may happen during their stay outside of Hong Kong.
