The year 2017 has been a remarkable year for Canada's Express Entry immigrations selection system. The second quarter of 2017, recorded the highest in the number of candidates invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence. The second quarter of the financial year also experienced low CRS (Comprehensive Ranking Test) points required to get ITA (Invitation to apply) issued.

In addition, the early summer and spring period was a time in which new opportunities were created by  'Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada' (IRCC) in which candidates would be awarded additional points through Express Entry scheme. Other new strategies were laid down by IRCC to invite candidates who are professionally skilled through some specific draws.

A per the reports, as the ITA's were shot up this reduced the CRS points in the first half of the year. This created an optimism among the express entry candidates for the second half of the year.

As per the statistics, the second quarter of 2017 recorded the issue of 26,653 ITA's, which was more than the first quarter and double the ITA's issued over the span of final three months of 2016.

As per the official, nine 'Express Entry Draws' were conducted during the second quarter of 2017. Out of which four of them recorded low CRS points.

The increase in the issuance of ITA's in the month from April to June indicated a huge contributing aspect towards a decrease in the CRS points. On May 31, the candidates who were eligible under 'Federal Skilled Worker Class' (FSWC) or CEC (Canadian Experience Class), experienced a low CRS point of 413.

On May 26, IRCC performed a two program specific draws in which the candidates in the pool under FSWC (Federal Skilled Trades Class) were the biggest beneficiaries. The candidates under FSWC who were having a minimum CRS score of 199 were invited to apply.

The candidates who received a lower CRS points can raise their scores and obtain ITA with the help of additional points received if the candidate has the sibling in Canada or knows the French language.
