It is expected that the demand for the
H-1B work visas of US for the next year would be very huge such that the maximum limit of 65,000 applications are accepted be filed on the very first day itself. The US authority opens, for submission of the applications, on 1st April 2014.
During the previous year, the limit for the applications had reached its limit in 5 days on 5th April, 2013,which was considerably quick when compared to the years right before that, when the demand for Information Technology (IT) had come down because of the world wide recession during the years of 2008 to 2009. But at present, with the developed economy of US, the decreased rate of unemployment, demand for IT having regained, and also because of the requirement to have investment in the latest technologies such as analytics, mobility and cloud, the necessity to have overseas technology workers is at a faster rate.
US H-1B visa has a non-immigrant status which allows the
employers of US to employ the overseas workers on a temporary basis. These visas are used primarily by the American sister companies of the Indian IT companies. They account for greater than half of the allocated visas. They use this H-1B visa for the purpose of moving the engineers of India for brief periods to the client place for work, which may not be accomplished offshore.
An advisory from law firm ‘Ford & Harrison’ has said that they expect much more demand for US H-1B work visas when compared to the year 2013, and anticipate that the limit to the number of applications will be reached in no less than seven days, may be even on 1st April itself.
The
USCIS will stop receiving the applications when it realizes that the applications have exceeded the limit and then adopts a process of a lottery-based system to select persons from the 65,000 applications received.
