Global Talent Stream Program
The Employment and Social Development Canada announced changes In July 2019, in the list of professions in Category B of the Global Talent Stream. The changes are:

Addition of One new occupation in the list that is NOC 2281 specifically for Computer Network Technicians and Removal of Two occupations from the list that is NOC 0211 specifically for Engineering Managers followed by NOC 0212 specifically for Architecture and Science Managers.

ESDC allows GTS LMIA applications in NOC 0211 for Eng. Managers and NOC 0212 for Managers in Architecture and Science for submission until Aug 4th, 2019. It is very important for all employers considering the GTS program in these two occupations, to submit the applications before the set deadline. After the date, employers have to use the regular process of LMIA instead of the GTS LMIA. There were fresh updates on compulsory wage requirements. For all Category B occupations having the wage floors, the employers have to offer that amount as a minimum for applying to get the GTS LMIA.

Details regarding the GTS Program

The Global Skills Strategy commenced in June 2017 with the specific aim of helping the Canadian employers to access top and qualified talents at the global level quickly and efficiently under Temporary Foreign Worker Program as well as International Mobility Program.

Under the TFWP, the program has the name of Global Talent Stream, where ESDC expedites processing of the Labor Market Impact Assessment when the position applied falls in the List of Category B Occupations, or when the company was referred by the designated partner for the reason that the requested position requires special and unique talent.

Additionally, in the GTS program, LMIA applications get a speedy processing within two weeks. Moreover, when the candidate requires applying for the work permit outside Canada, finalization of review by the visa office regarding the work permit application happens within two weeks. This saves time. There is an increase in the processing times for regular LMIA applications and also for the work permit applications at visa offices globally.

In general, the GTS program is beneficial to many companies when they are pressed for addressing critical labor shortages by availing the services of top specialized overseas workers.
