More number of highly qualified foreign individuals are entering Germany for employment. As per a new report, the levels of education of those immigrants are much above the average of a normal German.

According to the research done by Herbert Brucker on the German labour market, the immigrants of Germany have higher education level and better trained than the native Germans. In the contemporary scenario, about 43 percent of the immigrants have graduated from a graduate program, technical school or a university. As per the report, the German public still believe that immigrants have a low skilled background. The qualifications and social composition of immigrants have radically changes over the last decade.

Germany became attractive for several countries in euro-zone due to the high unemployment and economic crisis in their own countries. As per the statistics of Federal Statistical Office, more than a million people have moved to Germany in the year 2012. This is treated as the largest influx of immigrants since 1995. However, many of these immigrants are highly skilled and qualified.

It is also important to know that the labour market of Germany is experiencing major shortage of skilled workers. As per the Federal Employment Agency report, the workforce of Germany is going to decline by 6.5 million people by the year 2025.

Historically, the government of Germany has been reluctant towards promotion of large scale immigration. As per the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) report, Germany is lagging behind countries like Britain, Australia, Denmark and Canada in recruiting skilled workers from foreign countries. However, the times are changing with the global economic crisis and Germany also became part it for recovering its economy.

Germany is going to need more skilled immigrants, even from non-EU countries, for its economic growth.
