Attracting the right type of workers is very important for the future growth. Based on the report of the Economic Advisory Body De Økonomiske Råd, foreign workers will play a dominant role in attaining expected growth, and also in determining the future of labor force of Denmark. In order to accomplish this task, 70,000 workers are heavily needed.
Denmark needs to adopt several reforms and expand the workforce because there is a shortage of workers in certain areas, which is a stumbling block, for economic growth in the future. Attracting workers will be vital for the future growth for planning till 2025.
Foreign workers are an important contributing factor to achieve the growth of 2.1 between 2019 and 2025. An upswing has been noticed in other EU nations, and it will be difficult, to find them warm, towards coming to Denmark. The country holds less attraction for Germans and Poles, and hence it is important to catch the attention of right workers.
People who reach Denmark as refugees, or for family reunification, have a low employment frequency when compared to the people, who arrive on profession and job oriented schemes. The refugees constitute a major portion of the net immigration. This reduces the frequency of the profession of immigrants and leads to the overall reduction in the labor force.
The net immigration of 70,000 foreigners in the future, contributes to a sense of insecurity while projecting the labor force. It is expected that the structural labor force in Denmark, would increase by 115,000 till 2025, owing to the early retirement of employees.
In 2016, a report from DEA had shown that highly-skilled workers arriving in Denmark from various nations contributed to the financial boon significantly.
Thus, there is a case for increasing the employment rate, for foreigners, and to take vital decisions, fairly and quickly, in this matter.
