Migrants into Denmark

The rise in Human trafficking is now rising at an alarming rate. It is not a problem just in Denmark but throughout the world. Human trafficking in Denmark is a particular problem within the sex trade. Many women from around the world are trafficked to Denmark and forced to become prostitutes. Denmark is an easy country to become a sex worker as it is legal, many see the fact that prostitution is legal as the reason that human trafficking is becoming a bigger more wide spread problem. Women are sold to other people and then forced into an occupation usually prostitution,  the money they earn is not theirs but the person who bought them and who got them into the country.

It is now becoming apparent that it not just women who are being trafficked into Denmark, a growing number of men are now entering the country. Both men and women are trafficked in under the guise of entering the cleaning industry, obtaining a visa, or fake documents, and seemingly being another migrant in Denmark, wanting to be there. Immigration is high on Denmark and this is another reason Denmark is popular, it is not just that prostitution is legal. Men then sell drugs and women sell themselves or are forced to which is more often the case. The problem is a known one and no one is closing their eyes to it, finding a way to stop it is posing more of a problem. As trafficking is a worldwide problem, the world has to unite to eradicate it.

The countries that the most people are trafficked into Denmark are from Thailand, west Europe and west Africa. Both men and women are trafficked from these countries. Human trafficking is illegal and if the individual or group are caught they will face imprisonment. Anyone involved in human trafficking will also face time in prison, be it housing a victim on behalf of the exploiter, transports the victim or transfers a victim to name a few.

The government of Denmark are ready to act on the appalling treatment of both men and women and the fact they are being trafficked into their country is a big problem. They now have a plan of action that they hope will help fight the war against human trafficking. Finding a way of helping potential men and women who will be targeted and trafficked is just one of the initiatives. Slavery is illegal yet traffickers do not care.
