In the draw held on February 7th, the Canadian Government, invited 3,000 Express Entry candidates, who had a minimum CRS score of 442, to apply for Canadian PR.

There was an increase of 250 in the present draw over the previous draws. The previous cut-off score was also low and this shows that 2018 will continue to have the record low cut-off scores.

In 2017, the lowest score recorded was 413 on May 31, 2017.

Like the previous six draws, IRCC used the tie-break rule. Presently, the date and time of the tie-break were May 29th, 2017, at 07:01:15 UTC. The candidates who had a CRS score higher than 442, and those who scored 442 and entered their profiles in the pool before that deadline are eligible to receive an ITA.

Express Entry PNPs

Provincial Nomination Programs, or PNPs, which have a link with the Express Entry system were active since the January 24th draw. During that period, - PNP streams aligned with Express Entry were opened in New Brunswick, Ontario, and Manitoba provinces and draws were held for Express Entry candidates.

On 26th January, Human Capital Priorities Stream of Ontario issued Notifications of Interest to 380 Express Entry candidates who had scored ranging between 433 and 444.

On 30th January Express Entry Labour Market Stream of New Brunswick was opened to receive Expressions of Interest. A draw was held on January 31st in Manitoba which issued 148 Letters of Advice to Apply to obtain provincial nomination by using the Express Entry Pathway.

The candidates figuring in Express Entry having a provincial nomination get 600 more points in their CRS score, and are in a good position to get an ITA.

A bachelor’s degree, added with advanced English language skills and a work in the software engineer category or similar top skills has a good chance of success. This draw signifies that the number of invitations will increase and the cut-off scores will also go down. The future draws will be interesting to see and measure the outcome.
