Egypt Decides for an Electronic Visa for 41 Countries

Tourists and visitors of all categories, interested to visit Egypt, can now submit an application, to get an online visa, from the comfort of their homes. Presently, there will be no need for embassy appointments, after Egypt has officially launched a wide range of electronic visa services, at the Cairo ICT Expo. This has an aim to attract tourists to the country.

E-Visa website of Egypt said the e-Visa of Egypt, intends to simplify the procedure, for incoming visitors to Egypt, to get the right travel authorization. This online visa program, will accelerate the visa applications process, preceding traveling. It will also improve the customs system, and border control, on arriving in Egypt.

All Eligible applicants, hailing from these 41 countries, from across the world, can now apply online, to get travel authorization.

They will be in a position, to receive the visa, through an electronic medium. The norms require that the applicant must be a national from a country that is eligible, and must also possess, a valid passport extending up to six months from the date of arrival.

The website says that the e-Visa is a single-entry visa, valid for a stay of maximum 30 days. It has been made compulsory for all travellers, who wish to visit Egypt for the purpose of transit, business or tourism.

The tourism sector of Egypt corresponds to 12 percent of the economy. 

The tourists arriving in 2015, to its ancient sites and beaches, numbered at 9.3 million, compared to 14.7 million in 2010, and the receipts were $6.1 billion.

In October, Ministry of Tourism, Egypt, had partnered with the CNN, to initiate a campaign, for promoting the tourism industry, in the country.
