Changes have been made to the Canadian work permit, study visa and visitors visa. The changes include added requirements which have been established to preserve the security and safety of all Canadians, at the same time it will assist in the progress of legitimate travel. The modifications came in to practice on December 11th 2013, it is now compulsory for applicants from numerous countries to provide a digital photograph along with fingerprints. The digital photograph and fingerprints are essential when an application for either a work permit, study visa or visitors visa is made.

The recent changes will also ensure potential visitors are protected, as the complex process makes it harder to steal or forge a persons identity in the hope to gain false access into Canada. If there is no access to a digital fingerprinting service within a certain proximity of the applicants current address, they have an option of getting the fingerprints done via an ink roll method. Applicants who require the ink roll method can get in touch with their local Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) department, police department or citizenship office to find out the location of their nearest service providers.
The ink and roll method will increase the processing time of the application. Applicants looking for a faster processing time will benefit from the digital fingerprint method, these can be done through the Royal Canadian Mounted Police or the applicants local police. If the applicant can not get to any of these locations, digital fingerprinting can be taken at one of the six fingerprinting agencies which have been officially authorised by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The advanced specifications put Canada on par with various other countries worldwide, who have previously gathered the personal unique data of visitors by using the fingerprint method. Countries using the fingerprint method include the United Kingdom, U.S, Australia, Japan as well as countries that are part of the European Union Schengen zone. Applications must be presented at a visa application center where fingerprints will be taken and the applicants photograph will also be taken. Applicants are to pay the sum of $85 Canadian dollars for the visa services, and gathering of vital information.
Upon arrival to any of the entry sites in Canada, the applicant will come across a Canadian border service officer, the officer will use many different sauces to make sure the identity is correct.
