Denmark lack of border control, good or bad thing?

Denmark is one of the countries that fall under the Schengen agreement. A treaty was signed in 1985 between five states, it proposed the cancellation of border checks to the countries that signed the treaty and so in 1995 the schengen area was drawn up and this meant that no border control was in place, passing through or travelling to these European countries are instead governed by a visa system. It meant that neighbouring citizens could pass freely and bring with it harmonious living conditions and easier travelling conditions for individuals. As well as being a borderless country. Denmark do want a border control check point in their country as immigration is on the rise. Temporary border controls can now be used in Denmark after an agreement was reached. Unannounced inspections can be made on the temporary border checkpoints to make sure rules are not being broken.

The agreement does state that the rules should only be used if a threat is posed, the reasoning behalf the introducing to temporary checks is if a country is suffering a security check, with more and more people choosing Denmark as a place to migrate to the country want to curb immigration, especially illegal migration. Denmark are not the only European country that are in the schengen agreement that would like tighter controls being brought into force in their borderless countries, many see what was once a good idea for easy travelling situations as a security risk, for terrorism acts and also with the amount of immigrants travelling into their countries on a daily basis, more strain on the economy of the countries and the citizens of the countries feeling increasingly bitter towards the amount of people entering their country.
The temporary border controls that have been set up could last for two years, checks will continue to be made. Countries that have a tight border control and immigration department have better control on who can enter their country legally as opposed to borderless countries who rely more on their visa systems and why Denmark have tightened their requirements be able to obtain a green card. Denmark is still one of the happiest countries in the world, the Danish are a very cultured and diverse and welcome all citizens from international countries, the illegal migration is what is posing a problem to both the government and the citizens of Denmark.
