Denmark Asylum Seekers

Denmark is recognised on may reports that have been conducted worldwide as one of the happiest countries in the world. Many people want to live and work in Denmark. The Danish government allow international citizens to live and work in their country if permitted to do so . The way to go about this is to apply for a green card visa, if you do not hold a green card which will give you the access into Denmark you will not be able to enter legally. Unfortunate asylum seekers from around the world travel to different countries and illegally gain entry, Denmark is no different and people are getting in illegally, which is posing a major problem now, to migrants who travel legally and citizens that intend on gaining a green card. Denmark have had no choice but to cap the amount of migrants that can legally enter their country each year. Criteria and requirements of the green card system have also been tightened.

The amount of Asylum seekers travelling to the country throughout this year is expected to be the biggest number in over a decade. This is due to the humanitarian living conditions that are available in Denmark. Once asylum seekers have gain entry into Denmark they then apply for asylum, over seven thousand citizens will apply in 2013. As the Danish government changed the regulations surrounding asylum seekers, meaning they can live and work outside of the asylum centres they are housed in and so living conditions on a humanitarian level has improved and so influx of asylum seekers followed. The government are being blamed for the current situation in Denmark regarding this issue.

The number of asylum seekers is rising due to the unsettled behaviour going on in somalia and Afghanistan. The more these countries are seen by their citizens as unstable and an unsafe place to live, the more they will flee their country. Denmark is now a very attractive country to try and gain entry and with the government relaxing the conditions it is easy to see why the rise of asylum seekers is the highest it has been in over ten years. Danish citizens want change, they want to regain their country. Asylum seekers who enter the country are a major strain on the Danish economy and the Danish tax payer. Although in previous years the number of applications has been high the number of excepted application which led to visas being issued was not as high as the number of applicants, this means most were refused by the Danish immigration service.
