Danish Police Issue An Apology To African Migrants

Denmark Church

Immigration checks were recently carried out by Danish police at a church in the country that is attended by many migrants who entered Denmark from Africa. The Danish police have sent a formal apology, about the checks that were made.

The apology states that they are aware that he church is a special place and the immigration checks should never have been carried out in the place of worship. Although the checks are routine and how the immigration services control immigration they do understand that the church should not have been entered and are extremely sorry for this.

It seems the apology only came in a response to criticism aimed at the police following the visit to the church for the immigration checks. It has been reported by the congregation that when the police entered the church for  the checks they did so in a very aggressive manner,  they also checked the churchgoers documents in a very standoffish way as well as blocking doorways while the check was taking place. Children were also present at the time and the whole experience was overbearing and unneeded.

A spokesperson for the pro-integration group has pointed out that many of the church goers are migrants from Africa, many of which are in the country as refugees, they have legal documents and visas to proof this, but as they are refugees and have already seen and suffered at the hands of official in their own country, the reason they managed to finally leave and then have to suffer the trauma of attending church and then being raided in a very oppressive manner could have lasting affects, on very vulnerable people.

With the checks being carried out by the police in a church, while people were worshipping is proof of a complete lack of respect towards both the church and the new Danish residents attending the church, as well as being a very traumatising experience for all involved. Danish police did defend their decision to enter the church for the checks.

The police say that their investigations surrounding immigration and migrants do often lead them to churches and in this particular case, there was no religious ceremony taking place. It has been stated that if a prayer service was going on then they would not have conducted the search and waited, patiently for the service to conclude before the checks were carried out.
