immigration law on reunification
It has come to light recently that more and more young children are now being reunited with their families. This is thanks to the fact that the Danish government relaxed the immigration law on reunification. Denmark is one of the countries that have an extremely high human rights opinion. Children should not have to suffer by not seeing or being with their families because laws are so strict. Many charities have raised concerns towards the number of children who did suffer under unfair laws. Denmark responded by changing the laws, this was a welcomed change by all concerned.

Before  the change many children who were aged twelve and under were assessed wrong and so they could not be reunited with their  families. There has been several high profile cases in recent years surrounding immigration and children being the main party who suffered from the immigration laws and through being wrongly assessed on their application.

Many children did face deportation under the old laws. Another reason that many children did face deportation was whether or not they integrated well enough. this is now not an issue under the change of the laws recently. The main goal for the immigration services are  to keep children in Denmark with their parents or parent if the case may be.

If children continue to be turned down for the reunification visas in Denmark, it looks bad on the country, but the children who suffer have it worse. Facing being deported at such a tender age, away from the parent, all through being wrongly assessed as the case may be. This is why many organisations have protested for the change in the law to be made. Nobody should have to suffer, children especially should not suffer at all.

If children are deported and then enter the country at a later time in their child life, they will find inter grating and entering into Danish life much more difficult. Being taught and raised one way then being deported, then possibly entering again can have an adverse reaction to children. The law changes will stop this, and it is a very welcome relaxation of the laws on immigration in Denmark.

Denmark is a country that is very accepting and has a big international community. These communities are welcomed by the country and help to make the country grow both economically and in its diversity. Denmark do not want any bad press especially where immigration is concerned.
