Modifications-in-Employer-Sponsored-Occupations-Lists
The Department of Employment, requires comments from the public on projected modifications, to the Lists of Skilled Occupations, from January 2018, and has prepared a draft bulletin for it.

A new system will be practiced and some occupations will be removed from the lists, whereas others will be added.

Here we present the occupations to be considered for inclusion and exclusion to the lists, and the probable impact to be made.

Which Application Types will be affected?

It is likely that the planned changes would affect applications in Employer-Sponsored 457 and Employer Nomination Schemes.

The lists for General Skilled Migration subclasses will not undergo any change. The occupations lists for skilled workers in General Skilled Migration is scheduled to be reorganized in July 2018.

Occupations likely to Be Removed

The Short Term Skilled Occupations List will see the following occupations possibly removed from the list completely:

Accommodation Managers, Hair and Beauty Salon Managers, Hospitality Managers, Building Associates and Recruitment Consultants

Occupations likely to Be Added

At present these occupations are not available on the skilled list for 457 and ENS visas. Immigration authorities propose to add these to the List. University Tutors, Property Managers, Psychotherapists, Real Estate Representatives and Real Estate Agents,

Impact on ENS Direct Entry Applicants

The candidates who are looking to present an ENS Direct Entry application, for the occupations likely to be removed, are not eligible to send an application, after the changes are made, to the lists in January 2018. In case they apply before that date, their application is likely to be processed even when the job is removed while the application is pending.

Impact on 457 Applicants

If the job is removed before giving 457 applications, the candidates will be surely affected. If you send an application, after January 2018 or in case the 457 application is pending while the list undergoes a change, the candidates are not eligible for giving the 457 visa.

Conclusion

In all cases for possible removal, the candidates must submit the application at an urgent date.

In case the occupation is likely to be included, you should remember the date of the proposed change. This will improve your chance to apply for a 457 visa or an ENS Direct Entry.

In case the candidates are applying for General Skilled Migration, there is no impact at all, because presently, there is no plan, to change the lists of occupations, for this program until July 2018.
