Canada Caregivers Program
Live-In caregiver’s representative groups have said that Canada’s Immigration Minister, Chris Alexander is considering everything towards moving the overseas caregiver program to its latest Express Entry program.

President of the Association of Caregiver & Nanny Agencies Canada, Manuela Gruber Hersch, who participated in the meeting that was held in Vancouver in July, said that Alexander has put forward the idea, as a part of the discussion.
Besides, the minister also spoke regarding easing certain rules. According to which, it is not mandatory for foreign caregivers to reside with the employers. Also, the study time for caregivers will also be extended, which at present is six months for pursuing a course of study, prior to applying for a study permit.

Alexander said that more number of live-in caregivers, who are presently working for families of Canada, would see their permanent residency applications approved in 2014.

Canada is in need of caregivers and notably, 17, 500 caregiver applications are being processed from the backlog applications this year, he added.
