Canada unveils new occupations and caps for Federal Skilled Worker program

Citizenship Immigration Canada (CIC) has unveiled new occupations and caps for Federal Skilled Worker, or FSW, program along with announcing crucial information for Canadian Experience Class, or CEC, and Federal Skilled Trades, or FST, programs. All the changes will be effective 1 May 2014.

A total of 25,000 new applications will be accepted under Canada FSW program with a maximum of 1,000 applications per occupation out of 50 eligible occupations. Applicants with work experience of minimum one year in any of the eligible occupations and satisfying the same criteria as 2013 are eligible for this program. 

Applicants under Canada Federal Skilled Worker program will be evaluated on a points grid considering age, work experience, proficiency in language, education and adaptableness. Additionally, minimum language requirements in either French or English are to be met. The program also includes individuals and PhD holders with job offers from employers in Canada without any intake caps. The imminent program will accept utmost 500 PhD applicants.

Canadian Immigration applicants across the globe have been waiting for a long time for this announcement and an unbelievable amount of excitement is being expected in impending days particularly for the FSW program, which has been mostly admired to attain Canadian PR.

Applicants experienced in a skilled trade including all NOC B level trades are considered for the FST program, which will accept a total of 5,000 applications. The program will accept utmost 100 applications per occupation out of 90 different occupations.

Individuals with skilled work experience in Canada fall under the CEC program, which will accept a total of 8,000 new applications.
