The Northern and Rural Immigration Pilot is intended to handle aging populations, decreasing birth rates, and narrowing labor markets in smaller communities of Canada.

Within 2001 and 2016, the potential workers' number declined by 23%, while the potential retirees' number has risen by 40%. It is designed to bring skillful workers to these communities to support in enhancing the growth of the economy.

The equation is very simple, told Ahmed Hussen, Canada Immigration Minister. Bringing and holding immigrants with the required skills comprises a formula for success in Canadian northern and rural communities.

We have examined an identical immigration pilot in Canada Atlantic region, and it has now shown great results for both immigrants and Canadians.
